Laguna Beach Cottage

Project Summary

This charming 1937 cottage overlooks a scenic stretch of the Laguna Coastline and includes a private gated stairway to the beach. While the owners loved the location, they needed a major exterior renovation, including a new roof, siding, and windows. AMD was consulted for the exterior aesthetic, but it soon became clear the interior needed updating too. The kitchen was modernized while maintaining its authentic cottage appeal, featuring a vintage-style midnight blue Elise AGA range. The tiny primary bath and closet were reconfigured for better space. Anne suggested adding French doors and a catwalk from the den to the outside deck, previously accessible only through the primary bedroom. By refreshing the front deck and back patio, we created a roomier feel without adding square footage. Furnishings, fabrics, wallpapers, and lighting were chosen to enhance the cottage’s charm.
