Host a Picnic Inspired Party!
I recently co-hosted a coastal picnic dinner party with my friends/clients on the rooftop of their waterfront Balboa Island home. It’s our favorite place to take in views of the harbor!
We picked up fried chicken, potato salads, and a summer veggie salad from a local gourmet chicken shack. We served the fried chicken in picnic basket - such a fun way to bring a picnic into your home!
As long as the food is tasty and you serve it elegantly, there's absolutely nothing wrong with serving store bought food! Especially on a relaxing summer evening, it's so nice to let someone else do the work for you! :)
A blue, white, and yellow color scheme kept it fresh and coastal and gingham tablecloth and hydrangea filled baskets in lieu of traditional vases were an ode to a “picnic”. Pro-tip: stick the flower stems in a small glass of water inside the baskets to keep the flowers hydrated.
Melamine plates and tumblers instead of wine glasses kept the look casual.
